Dear friends,

November is the RI month dedicated to the Rotary Foundation, our foundation.
100 years ago, things seemed to be less complicated compared to how society has evolved and to the challenges we are facing today. Although we know what Arch Klumph, the Rotary International president at that time, imagined and proved could be accomplished, we can confidently say that the founder of the Rotary Foundation was insightful. It is equally true that those who followed his footsteps and stayed loyal to the Rotarian principles have managed to build an extremely powerful organization despite the critical time and all the crisis that have spread worldwide.

At international level, the most well-known program of the Rotary Foundation, implemented over the past decades, is the eradication of poliomyelitis, “End Polio Now”. A successful program, with significant financial investments (1.8 billion USD) made to ensure that future generations have to grow up healthy. This disease has been almost completely eradicated throughout the world, which is really a great honor for us to be a part of this influential organization, the Rotary. I will comment more on the different locations in D.2452 where Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Inner Wheel have been united in their awareness and social mobilization Polio campaigns: Cyprus, Lebanon, Jordan, Georgia. We achieved big success everywhere. Magic RY 2018-2019!

The Rotary foundation achievements do not stop at only achieving success, but it looks forward for the sustainability of these achievements. Applying the sustainability principle in our projects that are related to the 6 Areas of Focus is a must, where the members of the organization are granting significant financial support, in addition to the sources outside the Rotary. We should also do not forget the projects that the Rotary implemented and which offered the desired support and touched millions of people.
Let me remind you with a major Rotary event that will be hosted by our District 2452, the RI current Zone 20B-future Zone 21 which will take place at Dead Sea, Jordan between 8 and 11 of November 2018 under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal in the “King Hussein bin Talal Convention Centre” The program includes:

  • An update on RI and The Rotary Foundation and its programs.
  • A report on the polio eradication efforts.
  • An open forum where participants can make recommendations to the Board.
  • A chance to network, reconnect with friends, and find inspiration for continuing Rotarians’ service and leadership in their communities.
  • Entertainment and social outings.

During the Zone Institute, on 8th of November 2018, the District 2452 Seminar for The Rotary foundation will be conducted by DRFCC PDG Jamil Mouawad. We will discuss more about the Rotary Foundation and the participation of District 2452 in Foundation projects. We will share experiences, keeping in mind Arch Klumph’s words: “We should not live for ourselves alone, but for the joy in doing good for others.”

On the other side, I would like to invite you all to participate to the “Public Image District 245 Seminar” which will take place in Larnaca, Cyprus on 18th of November 2018. This seminar is organized by PP Elena Tanou. The program has been sent to ALL Clubs’ Presidents. We are excited to listen to famous guest speakers on new perspectives on new Rotary strategies on Public image.
The world Interact week is celebrated every year between 5 and 11 of November. On this occasion, we cordially invite the Rotary Clubs that have an Interact Clubs to conduct lectures for affiliated people, provide them a space to make the lectures, and allow them to attend the Rotary meetings in the presence of the president.
As for the Clubs that don’t have an Interact Clubs yet, they have to start thinking how to create these clubs based on schools and community. Knowing that it’s preferable to be school-based since participants would be under age and still under the supervision of the school teachers and monitors.

Finally, I signed on an Interact of Dubai community based sponsored by Rotary Club of Dubai.

With warmest regards,
